At Severen & Severen Ltd., game calls are our calling.  If you’re a hunter, collector, or both, we hope to serve your interest, as the products we make have been designed and created by hunters and collectors alike. 

Every call produced today at Severen & Severen Ltd. is individually hand turned and finished to create unique one-of-a-kind calls.  The polycarbonate call inserts (toneboard and wedge) found in our duck and goose calls are fabricated in-house and have been tuned to produce the greatest range of octave tones for each species.  Upon customer request, our duck toneboards can also be turned from exotic hardwoods such as Gabon Ebony and African Blackwood to produce softer tones resulting in distinctively different sounding calls.  Depending on wood grain, each call may receive up to 6 exterior and interior coats of a specially blended marine grade spar varnish to bring out the true luster of the wood grain while also providing a “completely” waterproof and UV protected call.  Our special attention to complete interior and exterior finishing virtually eliminates expansion and contraction of the wood in adverse weather conditions, resulting in little-to-no change in tonal quality of our calls.  Such attention to detail also prohibits the possibility of air seepage at the seal ring level (thus making a call more difficult to blow) as well as voidance of moisture impregnation of the wood grain, which could ultimately result in fracturing and/or cracking of a call body in cold weather conditions.

Our Louisiana style duck calls (having a removable toneboard, wedge and reed from the stopper) are available in both single and double reed configurations. Our reeds are hand cut to the exact length and dimension from .010 competition grade Mylar. The standard polycarbonate toneboard found in our duck calls are each cast and tuned in house to produce the loudest calls available on the market and therefore extending the most dynamic possible range of tones.  If desired, customers can request upgraded hand turned wooden toneboards (typically made from African Blackwood or Gabon Ebony) on Field- Custom- and Exhibition-Grade duck call orders. 

Our shop usually maintains a vast selection of specialty and exotic grade woods from which a customer can choose to have their call made from.  Some of the species we typically carry include: Amboyna burl, English Walnut, Black Walnut, Claro Walnut, Maple (curly & burl), Hawaiian Koa, Pollyanna, African Blackwood, Gabon Ebony, Macassar Ebony, Black & White Asian Ebony, Pink Ivory, Cocobolo, Kingwood, Purpleheart, Tulipwood, Cherry, Zebrawood, Ironwood and Olivewood.  Our selection changes daily, so if you’re interested in having a custom crafted call, we kindly request that you contact us first to confirm availability of desired spices. 

Please note that due to allergic reactions, we do not create calls from Rosewood (Brazilian, Bolivian, Honduran & East Indian) or Satinwood.  If you’re interested in having a call made from a species not listed above, please contact us first to confirm availability and workability.

Our current selection of goose calls include, short reed Canadian calls, specklebelly goose, and Canadian goose flutes.  The unique design of the insert found in our short reed Canadian goose calls allows our customer’s to reverse the position of the reed to raise the octave of the tone from Greater to Lessor Canadian goose.  Our Specklebelly goose calls are equally effective on Ross and Blue Geese.  Our Canadian Goose Flutes also utilize our reversible reed insert to further increase the dynamic range of tones produced from this classic call.

One of our most popular calls, the Gamebird whistle is an absolute must on any duck call lanyard.  With the ability to produce a Blue or Green Winged Teal whistle, Pintail whistle, Widgeon whistle, Wood Duck whistle and Drake Mallard whistle, when a standard duck call fails to gather attention of the species flying overhead, the Gamebird Whistle can be a lethal weapon in getting them to turn into your spread.  In addition, the Gamebird Whistle can accurately produce a Bobwhite Quail call to locate those precious coveys.

With a history that dates back nearly 2000 years, the yelper (also know as a turkey trumpet) is probably the most effective call to use during spring turkey season for bringing in the mature long-bearded Toms.  Our unique design is highly regarded as the best currently available on the market and with having been equally compared in tone to the Holy Grail of yelpers, the Tom Turpin “Green Hornet”.  There is little reason to wonder why we cannot make these calls fast enough!  All mouthpieces found in our yelpers are hand crafted from Sterling Silver.
